Student’s iPod Explodes During Class [IPod]

pimg src=”http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/4/2010/02/500x_explodingipod.jpg” class=”left image500″ width=”500″ /A Pentucket Regional High School science class got an unpleasant surprise yesterday when one student’s iPod a href=”http://www.newburyportnews.com/punews/local_story_056225627.html”exploded on her desk/a. But don’t worry! Nobody was hurt, and there’s a perfectly good explanation./p
pWhile Apple has gotten in trouble in the past for a href=”http://gizmodo.com/5169344/ipod-touch-fires-up-kids-pants-suing-mom-says”spontaneous iPod Touch combustion/a, Newburyport Daily News Online commenter “jos” offered some valuable insight into this particularly incident:/p
blockquote
pThe iPod did not just explode. It was broken so a kid took the entire thing apart and was rubbing wires against the battery, which became very hot, then exploded. This is not a faulty product that caused a danger to people. This was bored kids, in a classroom with a substitute all week, who found a dangerous way to entertain themselves./p
/blockquote
pSo let me get this straight: either your iPod deadly time bomb just waiting to go boom at a moment’s notice, or kids do dumb things when they’re bored?/p
pI feel so much safer already. [a href="http://www.newburyportnews.com/punews/local_story_056225627.html"Newburyport Daily News/a via Cult of Mac]/pbr clear=”both” style=”clear: both;”/
