• Emma Stone has been cast as Mary Jane Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Man reboot, despite many, many, many reports that she was going to play Mary Jane. I’m happy to have a Mary Jane-less Spidey flick, but I’m afraid this means the Green Goblin will be the villain again. (Via First Showing)
• Darren Aronofsky has been offered the Wolverine movie sequel. I’ll do a real article if and when he accepts. I have no idea how the probably nonexistent Preacher movie might be affecting on his decision. (Via CBR)
• This news is a little old, but still worth repeating — the X-Men: First Class is movie is going to redo the opening scene from the first X-Men movie (the one of lil’ Magneto breaking out of his concentration camp). My first thought was wow, they’re really going out of their way to connect First Class to the original trilogy. Then I remember the jillions of mutant who are apparently in Professor X’s “first class,” which somehow doesn’t include Jean Grey, and I realized that this will likely be the only connection to the original X-Men films. And then I wondered why, and what the fuck, and really goddammit, and then I made a drink and felt a little better. (Via /Film)
