The Candy Shop – A Short Film Shining Light into a Dark Corner

NerdBastards makes plenty of snarky, lewd, potty humor jokes all the time, it’s one of the things we do best. The subject of this short film though is no laughing matter. The revelation that the city I live in (Atlanta, Ga.) is the number one city in America for this problem is more than just disturbing, it’s disgusting. There should be a Sarlac pit somewhere for those people involved in child sex trafficking, 10,000 years being digested in the Sarlac belly would be just the thing.

Doug Jones (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) stars as the scary Candy Shop owner in this original film from Whitestone Motion Pictures in conjunction with Street Grace, . The Candy Shop is a film initiative to help fight against child sex trafficking. Street Grace is using the film to not only raise awareness, but provoke meaningful action towards this issue taking place in our own backyard.

Synopsis:

Jimmy Balcom’s new job selling newspapers is a God-send to a kid working hard to help his family survive during the depression. But then Jimmy figures out what’s happening in the candy shop across the street. And he is confronted with a choice that no twelve-year-old should ever have to face. Giving his family a better life, or keeping his soul.
