The Saw movies have been getting fairly stagnant, in my opinion. The first one blew my mind, and they’ve been going steadily downhill ever since. And yet, I still watch them because I am fascinated by the new and exciting ways the producers have discovered to torture the victims and the audience.
And it looks like they have found their new hook to get bodies in the seats. The latest fad in movies, using 3D, will be getting the Saw treatment.
A teaser trailer was released today from San Diego Comic-Con, which according to producers will be the last installment of the franchise. I’m having a hard time believing that, as if it makes a lot of money, there will be studio pressure to bring it back for more.
According to IGN, where the trailer can be found, the movie will have survivors of Jigsaw’s traps becoming pawns in a much larger game.
Survivors from Jigsaw’s (Tobin Bell) previous traps gather to seek support of “self-help guru” and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery), but when Dagen’s own dark secrets are revealed, a new wave of terror is unleashed. Meanwhile, Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) and Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell) battle over Jigsaw’s legacy.
And I have also just recently learned that Dr. Gordon from the first Saw film, played by Cary Elwes, will return!
