PIXAR’S film NEWT CANCELLED

After months of rumors about the Pixar film Newt being cancelled it was finally confirmed yesterday evening.

The rumors that Newt was in trouble began in February with a web comment made by Disney Legend and animation industry insider Floyd Norman saying that “Newt is dead”.

According to The Pixar Blog they received confirmation of the cancellation last night in reply to a email they sent to Disney.

Here’s the email according to Mike Bastoli on The Pixar Blog:

Hi Dave,

I was just wondering why there’s no information on Pixar’s Newt in the latest supplement to Disney A to Z? The entry seems to have been deleted.
Best,
Mike Bastoli

Somewhat sneakily, I sent the question from my personal email adress with no mention of this blog. Shortly after 6:00 PM I received the short reply, which I really wasn’t expecting. It was unsigned but came from Smith’s address:
The film has been cancelled.
I don’t know about all of you but I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. Hopefully at a later time they will try and get it started again.
