So since director Guillermo Del Toro left The Hobbit it seems as if he’s added another film on his already full plate of movies to be involved with.
Turns out Universal Pictures is developing another Van Helsing movie. This is not a sequel or a remake to the film that Hugh Jackman starred in a few years ago, thank goodness. I don’t know about you, but I thought that movie sucked. This new Helsing film is based on the same vampire hunting character from Bram Stoker’s Dracula, I suspect it won’t be a cartoony type of film like the Steven Sommers’ crap version that had Stoker rolling over in his grave.
The great thing about this new project is that Guillermo Del Toro and his production company are developing it! The treatment for the movie was actually written be Del Toro himself, which is being described as an action horror story.
If anyone can develop a good Van Helsing film, it’s Del Toro. The guy is just an amazing storyteller. It seems like Del Toro will definitely be producing the movie, but there’s no word on if he will end up directing it or not. I suspect he won’t because he’s got a few hundred other films he has to get started on as well.
Van Helsing is in the very early stages of development so don’t expect to see anything for quite awhile.
