Green Lantern Screenwriter to Write Leonardo Da Vinci Action Film

Not long ago we reported that Warner Bros. bought a film treatment for a Leonardo Di Vinci action movie, which turns the famous painter and inventor into a badass adventurer. The film will be called Leonardo Da Vinci and the Soldiers of Forever.

The studio is moving forward with developing this strange project, and they’ve hired Green Lantern screenwriter Marc Guggenheim to transform this renaissance artist into the new Hollywood action hero.

Da Vinci is best known as the painter behind “Mona Lisa” and “The Last Supper,” though he also was an inventor, engineer, architect, mathematician among many other occupations. The project re-imagines Da Vinci as a member of a secret society who falls headlong into a supernatural adventure that pits the man against Biblical demons in a story involving secret codes, lost civilizations, hidden fortresses and fallen angels. Think “National Treasure” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark” by way of “Cash of the Titans.”

Thw WB bought the treatment from producers Adrian Askarieh, Roy Lee and Doug Davison. And there’s no doubt the movie is going to be extremely silly. But theres a chance it could be very fun as well. I just don’t think a movie like this should take itself too seriously. But, wouldn’t it be crazy if they did make a crazy serious hadrcore action film about Leonardo Da Vinci that actually worked?
