Sorry, but this news is going everywhere, and everyone’s going to use a cat pun like “Batman Gets a Purr-fect Companion!” and I just wanted to have something slightly different before everything went to hell. Anyways, there’s a new Batman: Arkham City trailer, and if that’s wasn’t awesome enough — although it would be — it reveals Catwoman will be a playable character with her own… let’s just say her own unique move set, and also she’s totally fucking awesome. You know, I believe Abraham Lincoln put it best when he said, “GUH.” Much thanks to Finite Exposure for the tip.

TARZAN Deal is Set, Will Release As A Trilogy

Craig Brewer has made a deal for the TARZAN film which will now be a trilogy of films.

Warner Brothers has locked the writer/director in for three films to bring back the ape man. Brewer himself is hoping his next film will be the first of the series and believes he can pull off what others had failed at bringing the Edgar Rice Burroughs character to the big screen and making it successful.

Paramount Buys Rights to DC’s THE MIGHTY

Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures has bought the rights to DC’s THE MIGHTY. This is the comic book series that is written by Peter J. Tomasi and Keith Champagne. A good- bad guy kind of story, sounds kind of familiar.

Plot:

The story is about a cop, Gabriel Cole, who works with Section Omega, the police force that is assigned to work with the Earth’s one true superhero, Alpha-One.

Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story/Musical

This is a 37-minute zombie musical about two dead people in love (nasty!) called Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story. If I told you I watched all 37-minutes of it I’d be lying, and if there’s one thing I pride myself on it’s ~~not being a liar~~ a four-foot shlong. Yes, I can pee over my shoulder. If you’re into both zombies and Glee, you’ll definitely want to give this thing a watch. But if you’re into zombies and NOT Glee, you probably won’t. And if you’re not into zombies but ARE into Glee, you’ll probably still like it. BOOM, consider that shit broken down! Lodsys Sues 7 iPhone Devs Over Patent Infringement Claims

Dachannien writes “Patently-O and Ars Technica report that Lodsys has filed suit [here's the complaint] in the Eastern District of Texas against seven iPhone developers, asserting that the defendants are infringing two patents. Apple had previously indicated their belief that all iPhone developers are protected by a licensing agreement that Apple had made with the patents’ former assignee, Intellectual Ventures. But Lodsys insists that the defendants are nonetheless liable for infringement. Still an open question is whether Apple will go beyond the mailing of strongly worded letters in defending third-party iPhone devs.”

DNA logic gates calculate square root using 130 different molecules

Biological systems have caught the attention of computer scientists, who have been turning everything from RNA molecules to entire bacterial colonies into logic gates. So far, however, these systems have been relatively small-scale, with only a handful of gates linked up in a series. Today’s issue of Science leapfrogs past the small-scale demonstrations, and shows that a form of DNA computing can perform a calculation with up to 130 different types of DNA molecules involved. The system is so flexible that it’s also possible to use compilers and include debugging circuitry.

Before you have visions of DNA controlling Skynet, it’s worth taking a second to consider the system’s limitations: all those molecules were used to simply perform square roots on four-bit numbers, and each calculation took over five hours. Although they’re not especially useful for general purpose calculations, these DNA-based logic gates do have the advantage of being able to integrate into biological systems, taking their input from a cell and feeding the output into biochemical processes.

Q: I’ve heard that solid-state drives have issues with sleep mode and/or hibernate mode, but I have not been able to find any confirmation of this. Do SSDs have issues with sleep and/or hibernate (or hybrid-sleep) mode? If so, what causes it?

There is little official word on the issues that some solid-state drives have had with waking from sleep over the last couple of years, though we were able to confirm that yes, it is a problem for a certain small subset of solid-state drives. Certain manufacturers are working on solutions, and while there are many suggestions floating around on how to make the blue screens stop, no one of them works for every setup.

The problem is that when certain computers with SSDs are put to sleep, they will hang, cause a blue screen of death, or force a restart when woken up again. This has not been a widespread issue, and appears to happen only for a small (though significant) subset of certain brands. Some manufacturers have noted that the sleep problems seem to result from “compatibility” problems rather than the drives themselves, while other brands of drives appear not to have the problem at all.
