New rumors suggest that both Verizon and T-mobile plan to introduce cheaper, limited data plans to its subscribers in the coming weeks. The new options are similar to capped data plan options that AT&T unveiled right before the iPhone 4 launched this summer, with one important difference—customers can still opt for a more expensive, unlimited option if they choose. This is in stark contrast to AT&T, which effectively eliminated unlimited data plans in an attempt to rein in 3G “data hogs.”
The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that Verizon is set to add a $15 per month, 150MB data plan beginning October 28. Users that go over 150MB would pay 10¢ for each additional megabyte (effectively, customers would pay 10¢/MB with a minimum charge of $15). Unlike AT&T, however, Verizon will continue to offer an unlimited data plan for $30 per month.
