Apple has partnered with both AT&T and Verizon to sell iPads at their respective retail locations beginning October 28. AT&T will sell iPad 3G models that offer pre-paid 3G data service through AT&T. Lest you think Apple secretly made a CDMA model, however, Verizon will be selling WiFi-only iPads bundled with Verizon’s popular MiFi 3G hotspot.
Verizon will be selling iPad + MiFi bundles for $629.99, $729.99, and $829.99 for the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacity models respectively. That’s the same price as the iPad 3G models, so you won’t save any money, but you will end up with a 3G hotspot compatible with up to 5 devices. Verizon is offering a data plan, ostensibly just for iPad customers, which includes up to 1GB of data for just $20 per month.
If 3G data isn’t your thing and an Apple Store isn’t conveniently located nearby, Verizon will also happily sell you an iPad without a MiFi as well.
Both AT&T and Verizon will have iPads in stock beginning October 28. It seems that the constrained supply issues which have affected the iPad since its US launch in late March have finally subsided, and this announcement means iPads will be available in some 4,200 more locations throughout the US.
